 What We Offer

We offer UK Managed VPS services. Our services come with all the same software as you have come to expect from ‘premium’ shared hosting: cPanel, LiteSpeed web server, off server backups and script auto-installers.

Unlike some providers, with our VPS services we look after everything, as a shared hosting company would, so all you have to do is look after your website’s content.

The Package

The server and core software (http, mysql and email) is monitored 24/7 by our staff and we’re paged in the event of any problems. In our expanded management packages we can customise monitoring for your solution to your exact requirements.

We also deal with all the operating system updates, and ensuring that the server software is working correctly. We are now using a system called Ksplice that allows us to install critical server updates that normally require a reboot, without having to reboot the server; this means far better up time for your site compared to a standard VPS.

Why do I need this?

The main difference with a VPS is that all resources are guaranteed to your account from the moment your VPS is started, you can never affect another user’s site nor can they affect yours. You also can have customised configurations not possible on shared hosting that can make your site run faster, by configuring the environment purely for the software you are running. As more and more shared hosting companies use advanced resource limitations and complicated ‘Fair Use’ policies to enforce resource limits on their hosting, as they pack as many as 1000 customers per server,  you will find that you lose the much needed performance of your site. This not only affects your visitors but your search rankings and even your sales.

Much of the shared hosting we have seen has a limit of 10% of the server’s total CPU and around 2% (256MB) of memory and in many cases you cannot use more than this. Along with this these resources are shared with other users, just because you are allowed to use the resources does not mean you always can. So if your site gets busy or requires the complex processing involved with e-commerce sites, it will slow down fast, or even not work to start with.
